KXIP vs CSK Man of the Match: Kings XI Punjab star batsman was declared the ‘Man of the Match’ for his riveting knock.

During the 55th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings at Mohali, Kings XI Punjab defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets to culminate their IPL 2019 campaign on a high.

In what was their sixth IPL 2019 victory, they are highly unlikely of qualifying for the playoffs with 12 points to their name.

After Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and chose to field, Chennai posted a handsome 170/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. In what was his 11th IPL half-century, CSK opening batsman Faf du Plessis top-scored for his team scoring 96 (55) with the help of 10 fours and four sixes.

With bowling figures of 4-0-35-3, KXIP all-rounder Sam Curran was the pick of the bowlers for his team.

Chasing a 171-run target, the hosts went off to a flier on the back of a brisk 108-run opening partnership between Lokesh Rahul and Chris Gayle. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Punjab never lacked behind in the chase. With Mandeep Singh (11*) and Curran (6*) in the middle, KXIP sealed the chase in 18 overs.

In what was a game-changing innings by Rahul, it saw him putting his team in a comfortable position. Before getting out in the 11th over, Rahul scored a magnificent 71 (36) with the help of seven fours an five sixes. The right-hand batsman was declared the Man of the Match for his brilliant innings.
