Kyrie Irving has been in the news since the past week due to two very strange reasons. Initially after Celtics’ loss against Orlando, Kyrie mouthed off his teammates, admitting that they did not quite have championship mentality.

He then addressed the media and confirmed that such an outburst will never happen in the future, as he understood that it could be detrimental to the confidence of the young stars in the team.

He then went out and told the media that he had actually called up LeBron and apologised to him for being a very selfish young teammate.

Kyrie admitted to wanting everything at his threshold in Cleveland and said that he realised all of that now that he was leading a young team in Boston.

Kyrie and LeBron formed a very potent partnership in Cleveland, one that was cut short when Kyrie decided to be his own man and move to Boston.

Now, post Kyrie’s call to LeBron a couple of days back, rumors have been doing the rounds that Kyrie could joining LeBron in LA, post the ongoing season.

LeBron and Kyrie’s relationship had been marred a bit post Kyrie leaving Cleveland and while some analysts feel that Kyrie has grown as a leader post that LeBron apology, Stephen A Smith isn’t quite buying that.

He feels Kyrie had other intentions while calling up LeBron and has confirmed that an unnamed source has confirmed the same to him.

“(The source) said ‘Wow. I guess it makes it a bit easier for (Irving) to come to LA now,’ ” Smith said.

“That was the quote that I received. That was the text message that I received.” he added.

Chris Broussard too has reported that he feels Kyrie is laying the ground work for a blockbuster trade to Lakers. Irving will be hitting free agency this summer and NBA analysts believe that a move to the Lakers is on the cards.

The move could be one of the biggest one’s in recent NBA history, especially after Kyrie leaving Cleveland to get out of LeBron’s shadow.

But with LeBron not having a lot of time left in the NBA, Kyrie could probably slot in as LeBron’s number 2 for his last few years in the NBA and then taking over once LeBron leaves.
