Lionel Messi provides an unselfish assist to Suarez after a brilliant pass from Griezmann in the La Liga match vs Eibar earlier in the day.
Lionel Messi’s brilliant campaign last season resulted in a second consecutive La Liga with Barcelona. His huge collections of goals last season also helped him win the FIFA Best player of the year award and more recently, his 6th European Golden Shoe.
This is the 3rd consecutive time he has picked up the illustrious award. However, Lionel Messi’s bid for 4 on the trot was put in immediate danger after he missed much of Barcelona’s early campaign due to a calf injury in the summer.
He has since returned to his goal scoring ways and looks as hungry as ever. Messi opened his account this year with an exceptional free kick against Sevilla just before the International break. He then added another in Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Eibar this afternoon.
However, Lionel Messi could have ended the day with a brace had he not sacrificed his opportunity to provide an unselfish assist to Luis Suarez to bring up Barcelona’s 3rd goal of the day.
Lionel Messi provides an unselfish assist to Suarez after a brilliant pass from Griezmann
Lionel Messi collected a brilliant pass from Antoine Griezmann that pierced the last defender to find his captain. Messi then found himself in a one on one situation with the keeper. However, rather than outsmarting the glovesman and adding to his tally, Messi flicked the ball to Luis Suarez who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.
