Lionel Messi was furious with Manchester United over Di Maria’s move
When Manchester United had signed Di María from Real Madrid in 2014, it was seen as something of a coup. They had managed to sign Ángel even without the prospect of a Champions League game, and he was seen as the miracle that United needed to win the premier league. An injury riddled season later, he was sold off to Paris Saint-Germain for a princely sum, much before he could make his mark.
But the buried hatchet has been dug up again by the Spanish outlet Don Balon who brought to light some new revelations to the fore.

Di María’s translator Debora Gomes disclosed to Esparto Interativo, how Ángel was unhappy at the club and had been having problems communicating with the team.
She also highlighted times when she heard people inside the club talking about buying him solely for his ability to sell T-shirts!
Debora mentioned that Di María realised that the club hadn’t bought him because of his playmaking abilities which could help them win the league, but simply because he could drive the club’s revenue.
Don Balon further reports that his close friend and Argentine teammate Messi had also voiced his displeasure with Manchester United to his team-mates at Barcelona over how Ángel was treated.
With the transfer season now only a few months away, it’ll be interesting to see how this news plays out for Manchester United. Especially when Barcelona and Manchester City look ready to spend in the coming window.
