Man Utd News: Zlatan Ibrahimovic mocks Romelu Lukaku’s first touch by recounting a bet he offered the Belgian while the pair played together at Manchester United.
Romelu Lukaku suffered a torrid time at Manchester United during his stint at the club. The Belgian while prolific has often been ridiculed for his first touch and his inability to either control the ball or link up play.
Once the Belgian realised that he would have to play second fiddle to Marcus Rashford in the side, he pushed for a move away from Manchester United and now plies his trade at Inter Milan where he has rejuvenated his career.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played together with Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United has now opened up on a hilarious bet he made with the Belgian and has asked not to expect technique from him. He however, mentions that Lukaku has a massive appetite for success and has placed his faith in him to do well in Italy.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic mocks Romelu Lukaku’s first touch
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Zlatan Ibrahimovic said of the Belgian striker:
“I will say this on Romelu: don’t expect good technique from Lukaku, but his best strength is sheer power. If only he’d listened to me…
“At Manchester United, we made a bet: ‘I’ll give you £50 for every decent first touch you make.’ He replied: ‘What do I win if I get them all right?’
“I told him nothing, he would simply become a better player. For the record, he never accepted the bet! Perhaps he was afraid of losing…
“Joking aside, Lukaku has this mad hunger to prove himself to the world and I’m sure he will do well at Inter too.”
