Liverpool can either win league or receive guard of honour at Goodison park

Liverpool can either win the Premier League or receive a guard of honour at the den of their local rivals Everton if Manchester City drop points.

Liverpool’s historic Premier League is now one step closer with Manchester City’s defeat against Manchester United last night in the Premier League game at the Old Trafford.

With this, Manchester City has given a golden opportunity to Liverpool to rub noses of the Merseyside rival Everton, who might have to give to a guard of honour to the Reds if Manchester City loses their following matches against Arsenal and Burnley.

Although, a slim possibility, as Manchester City losing three matches in a week, is a distant reality. However, nobody can rule out the possibility as Pep Guardiola side has been pretty unpredictable this season.

Coming to a more realistic possibility, if Manchester City just loses to Arsenal in this mid-week game, then Liverpool will only need one win to be crowned as the champions, i.e, Everton defeat in the Merseyside derby will mark Liverpool as the league champions of this edition.

Undoubtedly, a glorious sight for the Kopites, who waited for more than 30 years for a single league triumph. However, there is a huge possibility that Manchester City will win both the games.

But still, Liverpool’s title victory is on the cards by the end of two game-weeks until Liverpool loses any of their matches. This means Manchester City will give a guard of honour to Liverpool if the Reds win their games against Everton and Crystal Palace.

Irrespective of the results by Manchester City as they could only reach to 87 points in the table with the last 10 games in their hands, thus Liverpool only need 6 points as of now.

With this Liverpool will break the record of Manchester United of winning the league earliest, as the Red Devils hold the record of winning the league on 14th April in 2000-2001 season.
