Liverpool News: Pep Guardiola targets Sadio Mane for diving after his late winner against Aston Villa

Liverpool News: Pep Guardiola targets Sadio Mane for diving after the Senegalese International’s late winner against Aston Villa last night.

Liverpool is on a phenomenal run in the Premier League as they have won 10 games out of 11 matches played so far in the Premier League. Although, there have been several instances where the Reds have managed to escape from dropping points.

A similar instance was last night, as Liverpool was about to face their first Premier League defeat of the season but in the end, an equalizing goal by Andy Robertson and the winner by Sadio Mane denied the Claret and Blues of the three points.

On the other side, Manchester City was closing the gap between them and Liverpool by three points, especially ahead of the clash between the two in the next game-week.

Thus, it surely annoyed Pep Guardiola, who took a jibe at Mane for his diving antics against Aston Villa as Mane threw himself to the ground inside the penalty area, exaggerating his fall and ending up picking a yellow card.

Speaking to the BBC, the Spanish coach said: “Sometimes he (Mane) is diving, sometimes he has this talent to score incredible goals in the last minute.”

Guardiola, who’s managed Man City to the title in the last two seasons, continued: “He’s a talent. Next week we go to Anfield to try to play them.”

Manchester City was also lucky last night after they were trailing against Southampton for the most part of the game but an equalizer by Sergio Aguero and the winner by Kyle Walker prevented the Citizens to lose any points further.

Now, both teams will head out for their Champions League games before they meet against each other at the Anfield in the next game-week, which can be a crucial event for the title race.
