Referee reviewed Jose Callejon’s dive and awards penalty to Napoli in the process.
Liverpool travelled to Napoli to play their first game of the new campaign. The hosts were off to a good start, but the Reds defence stood resilient and nullified their attacks. Adrian kept Liverpool in the game by making double save off Fabian Ruiz.
When Kostas Manolas made an error, Mohamed Salah timed the ball sweetly, but the goalkeeper Alex Meret was equal to his task and tipped the ball away for a corner. Adrian made an extraordinary save at the other end to keep the game’s scoreline intact.
However, in the 81st minute, Andy Robertson cleared got the piece of the ball to clear the danger. Jose Callejon in the process made a blatant dive to steal a penalty. The referee took time to think and finally awarded the spot-kick to the hosts.
It was a shocking dive from the Spaniard. To come as an amusement, that was checked by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which failed to overturn it! Shocking decision!
JOSE CALLEJON DIVE VS LIVERPOOL
Only those who don’t know that Callejon dives like a slinky sea otter wouldn’t think it wasn’t a premeditated dive. #NAPLIV pic.twitter.com/XstsRgZHcq

The game was rounded off when Fernando Llorente scored in the final minute of the game to register a 2-0 win against the reigning Champions. It’s fair to point out the penalty, which turned the game to Napoli’s favour when they didn’t deserve a win. Liverpool played out their sleeve and deserved to walk away with a point at least.
