As Liverpool take on FC Porto in the first leg of the Champions League Quarterfinals, we shall look at the head-to-head statistics between these two clubs.
Liverpool drew Porto for the second consecutive Champions League. The Reds faced the Portuguese outfit in the Round of 16 last campaign, but they would be facing them in the last eight as both the sides aim to claim the ultimate glory at Madrid this May.
When these two sides met last campaign, Liverpool were at their scintillating best and humiliated Porto at their own backyard by beating them 5-0 in the first leg. Since the damage was done in the first part of the tie, Jurgen Klopp fielded the second-fiddle side at Anfield to secure a stalemate and progress to the next round of the competition.
The English outfit have cut down their relentless pressing which used to wire out players so easily. Since the season is long, Jurgen Klopp has gone for a safe approach to the game by building a great backline which does not often leak goals, thanks to the presence of Virgil Van Dijk.
As Liverpool chase the Premier League title as well, they would be hoping to finish the tie in the first leg alone. But, Porto also have enough quality to cause an upset, having beat AS Roma in the previous round.
Let us look at the head-to-head statistics between these two sides in Europe.
