Lucas Hernandez to United: Manchester United are set to make an ‘irresistible’ bid for the French defender.

Manchester United didn’t make the best of starts in the Premier League this season. The club is currently 8th in the league with 13 points. Moreover, Jose Mourinho’s side conceded losses to Brighton and West Ham in the league, and lower-league side Derby County in their first match of Carabao Cup.

The season was further marred with controversy, as midfielder Paul Pogba has overtly criticized the manager’s tactics in post-match interviews. After the defeat to Derby County, Mourinho and Pogba were caught arguing during a training session.

Goals have dried up for the club, as United has a goal difference of -1 in the league. Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford have missed significant chances in front of the goal this season.

Jose Mourinho is also facing issues with his defence. Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have been underwhelming this season so far, and the manager has even tried Scott McTominay, and for the second half against Newcastle, Paul Pogba in central defence.

Lucas Hernandez to United:

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Manchester United has made a ‘dizzying’ offer for the defender. Marca reports that United has offered to ‘double’ the wages for the French World Cup winner if he agrees to come to Old Trafford in January.

In an interview with the Spanish outlet, Hernandez said that he had earlier rejected another big move to Real Madrid. He insisted that he wouldn’t leave Atletico for their city rivals.

“I didn’t listen to them very much. I was a hundred percent with my club, and also I had just renewed,” said Hernandez about the offer from Real Madrid.

“My agent informed me Madrid were interested, but I told him I couldn’t go, because Atletico is my club. And if I’m being honest, I couldn’t ever see myself in a Real shirt.”

However, Hernandez didn’t rule out a move away from Atletico Madrid.

“I hope to be at Atletico for a long time, but you know, football moves very quickly. If an irresistible offer arrived…” he said.
