Luka Jovic could be on his way out of Real Madrid after arriving 2 months ago for £62 million

Luka Jovic could be on his way out of Real Madrid after arriving 2 months ago for £62 million from Eintracht Frankfurt earlier in the summer.

With Zinedine Zidane’s arrival, Real Madrid promised wholesale changes in the squad. The team had after all suffered one of its worst seasons ever. They finished 3rd in the La Liga and never looked like contenders at any point. They were also knocked out by Ajax in the round of 16 of the Champions League, a competition they had bagged for 3 seasons in a row. In the process, they also ran through two managers.

This season was about resurgence and redemption. With Zinedine Zidane at the helm, the club looked to head in the right direction. They splurged over £300 million on new recruits, including over a 100 on Eden Hazard. However, their showing at the pre-season hinted that not much had really changed at the club. Dismal performances across 4 games lost them the confidence of the fans who have lost faith in the club.

Luka Jovic on his way out?

The manager seems to have also lost faith in certain players in the side, with Luka Jovic being the most notable victim. Spanish outlet Marca have reported that Zidane does not believe that Jovic is the answer to Real Madrid’s problems and is looking to ship him out on loan.

The Frenchman is a big fan of compatriot Karim Benzema and it was always unlikely that Luka Jovic would replace him in the side. However, with the amount of money spent on bringing him in, it is indeed very strange to have him go out on loan. Especially with the side in the condition that it already is. Hopefully there will be more clarity surrounding the situation in the coming days.
