Luke Shaw signs new contract: Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has signed a new contract at the club.

Manchester United has been going through a tough situation at the moment. The club is currently 8th in the Premier League, with only 13 points from 8 matches. Ever since the beginning of the season, Manchester United have had a fair share of controversies.

The inner turmoil between the manager Jose Mourinho, and the board and the players has been a poorly guarded secret. After the loss to Derby County in the Carabao Cup, Mourinho and midfielder Paul Pogba were seen arguing during the training session, which created further controversy.

However, a solid comeback in the second half of the game against Newcastle has lifted the spirits among the United supporters. This week, they face a tough test against Chelsea as Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge for the third time in the league as a United manager.

Manchester United haven’t won a game at Chelsea’s home ground since the 2012/13 season, and the Portuguese manager will aim to stop the dire run.

Meanwhile, the club gained a major boost earlier today as Luke Shaw signed a new contract at Manchester United.

Luke Shaw signs new contract:

The English defender has been a revelation for Manchester United this season. After a few struggling seasons, which were marred by consistent injuries and inconsistent performances on the pitch, Shaw finally won the trust of his manager this season.

ESPN reports that the 23-year-old left-back has signed a new five-year contract with the club.

The report also mentions that Shaw has received a ‘significant pay-rise’ from his former contract. He was on £100k pounds-a-week wage before the new contract. According to some reports, the new wages are in the region of £195,000-a-week.

Shaw’s contract was due to expire this season after Manchester United triggered a one-year extension.

The English international joined the club in 2014 from Southampton, but most of his career at the club has since been hampered by injury. In his first two seasons under Jose Mourinho, he was the second-choice left-back behind Ashley Young.
