Barcelona fans may not like to hear this, but according to reports, Manchester City are looking to hijack their bid for French superstar Antoine Griezmann.

For the longest time, Griezmann was set on joining Manchester United. There was a deal in place to take him to Old Trafford last summer, but was shelved because of Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban.

Griezmann had hid heart set on a move to England, which is why he reportedly signed a pre-contract with Manchester United for a move after the World Cup. That was still the idea up until January, when United suddenly swooped in for Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean was brought to Old Trafford and given the number seven shirt, something that rubbed Griezmann the wrong way.

The attacker was incensed that United broke their gentleman’s agreement, which is why Greizmann then decided to look for another club.

PSG also made their interest known, which provided another alternative for Griezmann. The possibility of playing in his home nation for a team that had the likes of Cavani, Neymar and Mbappe was surely tempting for Griezmann.

But he eventually said no to that move, as he did not want to leave Spain. Griezmann was then given another boost when Barcelona decided to save the number seven shirt for him, and give new signing Philippe Coutinho the number fourteen jersey.

According to reports, Griezmann to Barcelona is a done deal, as both parties have agreed personal terms and will now just wait for the season to end. Barcelona will reportedly trigger Griezmann’s release clause, which is somewhere around 100 million.

But Pep wants to rain on Barca’s parade, as he wants to offer Sergio Aguero in exchange for the Frenchman. Griezmann has always wanted to come to England in the past, and the allure of working with Pep Guardiola may be a pivotal card in this deal.
