Manchester City wants to buy Ivan Rakitic in the summer

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side are dominant in the league and are just a few wins away from the Premier League title.

But Pep has already started looking at next season, as the Spaniard has his eyes set on a couple of important signing, including centre midfield. With David Silva getting on in age, Pep knows that a midfield general is important for the side.

Now we hear that Pep wants to buy Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic in the summer.

When Cesc Fabregas left Barcelona in 2014, many Catalans were wondering how they would replace the graceful Spaniard at the Nou Camp.

Fabregas arrived amidst much fan fare to Barcelona, as the returning hero was expected to finally replace the great Xavi. But Fabregas did not have a great time with the Catalans, as the Nou Camp often booed the midfielder.

Rakitic was brought in as Fabregas’ replacement, and immediately became a star for the Catalan side.

The classy Croatian formed a brilliant partnership with Busquets and Iniesta in the center of the park, as the trio were crucial in Barcelona’s treble winning season.

Rakitic has been great for Barcelona over the years, as he is held in very high esteem by the team and fans.

“It’s a luxury to have him.”But with the arrival of Coutinho in the January transfer window, many people expect Rakitic to leave the club in the summer. There are many clubs in the Premier League who are extremely interested in signing the Croatian, with Liverpool heading that queue.

But now Pep’s interest could change everything, as Rakitic could be tempted to a move to the Etihad stadium.
