Man United News: Barcelona open up on Bruno Fernandes rumours prior to Manchester United move during the January transfer window.
Manchester United completed the transfer of Bruno Fernandes in the closing days of the January transfer window after being linked with the Portuguese midfielder since last summer. At one point, it seemed that the deal wouldn’t take place after all. However, following rumours of Barcelona’s interest, the move was swiftly concluded.

The bizarre interest from Barcelona entailed the club signing Fernandes and immediately shipping him out on a loan to Valencia. This would then enable them to secure Rodrigo after a spate of injuries and departures left them short in their attacking depth.
However, Barcelona’s sporting director Eric Abidal insists that the club was never interested in the purchase. He went on to claim that there was no need for the signing to occur.
“He is an interesting player, but the agents try to do their job,” he told Sport per Manchester Evening News, when asked about the Portugal international.
“We did not have that need.
“They sell you the product, but we were not interested at all. Rodrigo really interested us.”
Bruno Fernandes has since joined Manchester United and represented them already. However, Barcelona made no move for either Fernandes or Rodrigo. They chose instead, to pin their hopes on Ousmane Dembele’s return.
Unfortunately, the winger injured himself during the closing stages of his recovery from his last injury. He is possibly out of the season. This has left Barcelona even more barren in their attack and the club are now reportedly contemplating the signing of Getafe forward Angel.
