Man United Transfer News: Manchester City give a major push to Manchester United in Harry Maguire pursuit as the citizens lost interest.
Both Manchester United and Manchester City were interested in landing Harry Maguire from Leicester City this summer to bolster their squads ahead of the next season.
However, in recent advancements, according to a report by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City have lost interest in the English International, as Pep Guardiola doesn’t feel to make such costly signing, especially after Rodri’s arrival.
On the other hand, Manchester United receive a boost in Maguire’s pursuit, since they need a major defensive reinforcement, after such an underwhelming campaign last season.
However, Manchester United are being compelled by Leicester City to splash their banks for the defender, and they have already reportedly refused a massive bid by the former in a wish to make him the costliest defender ever.
Since, Leicester City have four years remaining with Maguire, the Foxes have absolute control over the negotiations, hence, they demand more than £75 million for him.
This is the main reason, Manchester City have stepped out of the negotiations, despite the 26-year-old defender interested in him. The Manchester City manager opines that he is not in any hurry to replace Vincent Kompany, and have other options at his disposal.
Furthermore, with Rodri coming to Manchester City, he can be used as a centre-back in times of crises, as he has been successful over there too.
Henceforth, Manchester United are the only club remaining in the pursuit of Maguire, so it is remained to see whether the Red Devil will increase their offer or not, as they step towards their pre-season tour.
