TheSportsRush brings things we learnt from Barcelona vs Huesca, as the Catalan side humbled La Liga newcomers 8-2.

Barcelona maintained their 100% record alongside Real Madrid in La Liga Santander as they came from behind to thump SD Huesca by an 8-2 margin. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both scored two goals each with Jordi Alba, Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane Dembele also scoring in addition to an own goal from Jorge Pulido. Ernesto Valverde’s are now on top of the league standings on goal difference and there is reason to be happy after such a great display. However, there were a few negatives and we have a look at three things learnt from the game.

BARCELONA’S RELIANCE ON MESSI IS WORRYING

Barcelona have been superb in the Huesca match, but the worrying factor is their reliance on Lionel Messi. The Argentinian was on the heart of every goal of the match and it is something that should be scary for Barcelona as they go into the future with a 31 year old ageing Leo Messi. At some point, he will eventually stop servicing week in and out and that time will be negative one for Barcelona.

BARCELONA’S DEFENSIVE ISSUES ARE RISING

Barcelona’s defensive issues have been on the rise since the start of the season. Sevilla troubled them in the Spanish Supercopa before a comfortable outing against Alaves. However, recent matches against Real Valladolid and Huesca have forced Ernesto Valverde into solving defensive issues for the club. They still haven’t faced a real test in La Liga so far and a strong attack might just breach them.

HUESCA ARE GOING TO SPRING SURPRISES

Huesca led against the odds through Juan Hernandez within five minutes of kickoff. The league’s newcomers were actually run ragged by the Catalans but have to look up to their attack who hammered two against a Barcelona defence consisting of two World Cup winners. They have 1 draw, loss and win apiece and are looking like the surprise package of La Liga 2018/19.
