They could have come out victorious at the Molineux though had Paul Pogba converted a penalty. Unfortunately, the French star missed the spot kick and the team returned with just one point added to their tally.

Fans were naturally disappointed with the result. However, there were plenty who went to far and indulged in racism wile criticising the player. This led to swift response from Manchester United. The club condemned the ugly episode before Pogba’s teammates joined hands to hit out at the racist abuse.

Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Chris Smalling and David De Gea all called out the trolls and showed their support for Pogba; proving once and for all that Manchester is United. A sentiment that has now been adopted by the fans.

Notable Manchester United fan group, the Red Army group have decided to vocally lend their support to Paul Pogba on Saturday after the online abuse he received following the draw against Wolves.

In an interview with MEN Sport, a spokesperson of the group said:

“We want to really get behind him vocally and let him know he’s got the backing and support of the fans. Pogba is a divisive character but everyone unanimously backs him when it comes to what happened the other day. He needs to know that we have got his back and will always support any United player.”

It is not just the fans but Twitter itself that has come to Pogba’s defense. They have confirmed that they will meet with United and anti-racism group Kick It Out to discuss the way they police football fans online.

It is unfortunate to see such a situation arise out of a football game. However, It is heart-warming to see the football community to come together in its dealing of a very serious problem that still plagues our society in the 21st century.
