Man Utd are fearing they’ll lose David De Gea due to Alexis Sanchez’s high wages at the club.

David De Gea has been one of the star performers for Manchester United for quite some time.

He has won multiple club’s player of the year awards, and secured the Premier League Golden Glove last season.

The Spaniard remains to be Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper and has been brilliant for the club in the last few months. He made an extraordinary 11 saves in the second half against Tottenham in a pivotal league victory over Pochettino’s side in January.

However, he has been under constant speculations over his future at the club. The United goalkeeper is reaching the end of his contract and Manchester United are making attempts to tie him down to a new deal.

The club has already struck new contracts with Scott McTominay, Anthony Martial and Phil Jones. However, the Telegraph now reports that there could be complications over De Gea’s contract due to Alexis Sanchez’s high wages.

The Chilean attacker currently earns 350,000 pounds/week at Manchester United. There have been reports that De Gea wants an improved contract at the club.

Sanchez has hardly justified his wages since joining the side. He is currently a second-choice attacker behind Anthony Martial due to a series of inconsistent performances this season.

Earlier this week, he failed to impress Solskjaer and the fans as he made a start in the absence of Martial against Crystal Palace, who is on the sidelines with an injury.

The Telegraph reports that Manchester United may be forced to make De Gea the highest-paid player at the club if they wish to retain the player’s services. European giants like Juventus and PSG are already preparing bids for the goalkeeper, according to report.

The outlet further claims that Manchester United need to tune the player’s wages to a sum total of around 500,000 pounds/week if they want De Gea to stay.

The Spaniard was initially linked with a move to Real Madrid and came woefully close to signing for the club in 2015. However, the Spanish club signed Thibaut Courtois in the summer, this ending their interest in the De Gea.
