Solskjaer to be appointed as permanent manager

Manchester United have decided to name Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the next permanent manager of the club.

When Jose Mourinho was relieved from his duties, Manchester United were a disjointed squad and struggled to compete for the Champions League place. The club faced humiliation in the hands of their arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League who beat them 3-1 in the Premier League in December.

The Red Devils’ first priority was the current Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino, but he was not available when the former Manchester United boss waved goodbye to the club. But, the landscape is set to have changed at the Carrington Training complex after a great start under their interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian International’s first game in charge was in the away 5-1 rout against Cardiff City in the Premier League during the Christmas Eve. Since that phenomenal result, the 46-year-old has had a memorable stint by defeating the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Red Devils are currently just two points off the fourth-placed Arsenal and enter the last and decisive phase of the season. Despite bowing out the FA Cup, the English outfit are hopeful of overcoming Barcelona in the Champions League Quarterfinals.

The English outlet Dailymail say that the team headed by Ed Woodward remained light-tipped on Monday night, but will be announcing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the permanent manager this week. Since taking over the club from the hands of Jose Mourinho in December, the former Champions League winner has lifted the club by securing 14 victories out of possible 19.

Many Manchester United legends including the famous right-back Gary Neville said that it would be impossible not to see him as a manager on a permanent basis following a memorable night at Parc Des Princes with a 3-1 victory in the Champions League Round of 16.

Since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, Manchester United have not been entertaining as the new managers come forward with defensive methodologies. David Moyes struggled to stamp his authority after being offered a six-year deal with the club, followed by Louis Van Gaal, who brought in youth players, failing to live up to the expectations and Jose Mourinho’s setup is well known to the rest of the world.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer understands the fierce nature possessed by the Red Devils forwards and gave them full freedom to take the game to opponent’s half. The Norwegian has won over the fans after implementing the old brand of football which the Old Trafford faithful witnessed after a long time.

The front line consisting of Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial, and Jesse Lingard have been ruthless in front of the goal by causing havoc to the opponent’s defense. Albeit being in an injury crisis lately, they have managed to pick up results.

Paul Pogba, who is finally living up to the hype has admired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work and wants him as the permanent manager at the club.

“Of course we want him to stay,” Pogba said of Solskjaer. “The results have been great. I have a great relationship with him, he has a great relationship with the players.

“When a player is happy, he wants to keep being happy. Solskjaer deserves it. He knows the club, he knows everything about the club.

“He is a really happy coach that gave confidence back to the players. This gave us the freedom to play and enjoy football again because maybe we lost that with the results that we had before.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already listed down his transfer targets and various reports quote that Kalidou Koulibaly, Milan Skriniar, and Jadon Sancho are heading the list for the Red Devils.
