Ryan Giggs has revealed the one quality which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer inherited from the legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United’s former star Ryan Giggs gave an in-depth interview to Daily Mail about his time at Manchester United.

He talked about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as a player at Manchester United, and revealed details about his relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson.

His comments on the Scotsman signify that Solskjaer has taken inspiration for his own style of management from the former United boss.

The Norwegian spent the entirety of his Manchester United career working under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ryan Giggs on Sir Alex:

In the interview, the former Manchester United star revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson was rather strict with him and David Beckham. The Welshman also stated that the manager behaviour sometimes got on his nerves.

“He regularly picked me and Becks out for a rollicking,” Giggs said.

“I think it was because he knew we wouldn’t sulk for long and he would get a reaction on the pitch.

“But he was making an example of us, definitely. We always got it more often than the rest. One pre-season in America he went for me in front of everyone. I was fuming and pulled him later.”

However, Giggs revealed that Sir Alex picked on him because he wanted to set an example for the younger players inside the dressing room.

“He said it was a ploy because he knew the younger players would know that if he could have a go at me, then nobody was safe.

“At times I would moan to the lads about it but when I got on the pitch it probably made me play better. Sir Alex knew what he was doing with me and Becks, pressing our buttons.

“Was he wrong? Of course, he wasn’t.”

Interestingly, Solskjaer said a similar thing when asked about his handling of the players in the dressing room.

“If a player messes up? If it is a veteran, someone who has been at the club for 10 years, I go full out in the dressing room. No mercy,” Solskjaer said.

“A young player? It’s more hands on shoulders, invite them out for lunch or dinner.”
