Man Utd Transfer News: Manchester United reject an offer from Everton to hire the services of Chris Smalling for a year-long loan spell.
Manchester United are stocked with the number of centre-backs available in the squad after the signing of Harry Maguire, and the Red Devils, do need to offload one or two to find the balance.
Thus, considering it, Everton proposed an offer to Manchester United to hire the services of Chris Smalling for a season-long loan spell with the Toffees.
In response, according to a report by the Skysports, Manchester United have rejected the offer made by Everton, even though Smalling’s future at the club was in doubt.
It is being speculated that Ole Solskjaer views Smalling as an integral part of his Manchester United squad, and still wants to keep him at the club, to further contribute to the club alongside Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire next season.
As of now, the English defender enjoys a contract with Manchester United until 2022, and it seems, even if the Red Devils want to transfer Smalling away from the club, it would prefer a permanent transfer for the player.
It is certain that with the arrival of Maguire this summer. Smalling would not be seeing much action off the bench, as he goes even lower in the pecking order at the club.
Manchester United had an expensive window, as they nearly spent £145 million on three players to bolster their squad ahead of the next season.
The Red Devils have shown a promising start in the pre-season friendlies, which would keep Solskjaer’s men in a positive mindset before the start of the Premier League this weekend.
