manchester united team news and predicted lineup

TheSportsRush brings Manchester United team news and predicted lineup as they take on the high-flying Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United host Tottenham Hotspur on the coming Monday at the Old Trafford. The Red Devils are in a pathetic moment following their 3-2 defeat at the Amex Stadium versus Brighton & Hove Albion. Several players have been slacked and a response is demanded from them. United will try to do just that and will probably field this team in order to get three points against Spurs.

DEFENCE
The Premier League’s Golden Glove winner from last season has already shipped four goals this season. However, David De Gea is expected to start against Spurs. Eric Bailly has been among the few decent performers and could start at central defence next to Swedish centre back Victor Lindelof. Luke Shaw has impressed Jose Mourinho after his fantastic effort and could be deployed at left fullback, while Ashley Young will play at right back in Antonio Valencia’s absence.

MIDFIELD

There has been no sign of Nemanja Matic at the AON Training Complex just yet and that would mean that Andreas Pereira starts at defensive midfield. He became the first person born out of Brazil to get an international call up in a long while and will be hoping to impress Tite with his club displays. Fred has started the last two matches, he did impress during United’s first outing. His speed and agility could be vital in dismantling a stubborn Spurs defence. Paul Pogba was a goal scorer in each of United’s two league games and wore the captain’s armband as well, he has been questioned by Paul Scholes over his attitude and will be looking to answer the United legend with a superb performance against the Lilywhites.

ATTACK

Alexis Sanchez missed United’s trip to Brighton but was seen training regularly through social media. His performance in the opening match of the season was functional, which could see Jose Mourinho hand him another start. Juan Mata has covered well in the right winger’s role by contributing defensively and offensively in an ample manner. He too could start on Monday. Romelu Lukaku is back and firing in the Premier League. His physique and strength could be vital in unlocking the stealth of Vertonghen and his centre back partner. As a result, the Belgian could start too.

PREDICTED XI: De Gea; Young, Bailly, Lindelof, Shaw; Andreas Pereira, Fred, Pogba; Alexis, Lukaku, Mata
