TheSportsRush brings Manchester United team news vs City, as Mourinho might have just received an early setback.

Manchester United will face their city rivals Manchester City in the first derby of the season. The match will be played at the Etihad Stadium, where Mourinho’s men were victorious on their last visit.

A brace from Paul Pogba inspired a terrific comeback for Mourinho’s side, as United came from 2-0 down to beat the defending champions.

Interestingly, Manchester United were the last Premier League side to defeat City at the Etihad Stadium. Pep Guardiola’s men have been unbeaten in this season, while Manchester United have been defeated thrice in 11 games.

However, before the game against Manchester City, Mourinho has reportedly received a huge blow, as one of his star player has picked up an injury.

Manchester United team news vs City:

It had been reported earlier that Paul Pogba didn’t take part in the penultimate training session on Friday before the Manchester derby. It was understood that the French midfielder has picked up a knock and trained indoors.

Earlier today, Manchester Evening News claimed that Pogba wasn’t seen with the rest of the squad as they arrived at the hotel ahead of clash.

Now, Independent’s journalist Miguel Delaney reported that Pogba, as well as Romelu Lukaku will not be included in the starting XI for the game against City.

It is a mighty blow for United because Pogba has been influential for Mourinho’s side over the past few weeks. Moreover, the French midfielder led an extraordinary comeback against Guardiola’s side last season, when they were the only team to beat City at the Etihad Stadium in the league.

What next?

Manchester United are currently 7th in the league, and a win against City would be crucial to their season. Pep Guardiola’s side is currently 9 points ahead of their neighbors at the top of the table.
