Markelov is in line for a Williams seat

Markelov is negotiating a move for a Williams seat, which means either Kubica or Sirotkin could be out of seat next year.

Williams find themselves in quite a tough spot going into the second half of this season as their driver line up isn’t quite sorted yet, with Stroll almost confirmed to move to Force India by next week.

While car performance would be higher on the priority list, as Williams have just not been able to extract any kind of performance from their car, sorting the driver line up is the immediate need.

And that need has to be fulfilled quickly, before the other teams make their moves and mess things up further for Williams.

The rumour mill suggests that Markelov, who is currently racing in F2 at the moment is negotiating for a Williams seat.

Earlier, Renault had announced Markelov as their development driver for 2018 season.

Markelov could be a good replacement for Stroll, at least for the near future, but with reports of Kubica sure to get a seat at Williams by next week, it will be interesting to see how Williams manage the entire situation.

Kubica’s performance will be measured over the next races in order to see if he is able to bear the load of a full Formula 1 season.

As far as Sirotkin is concerned, he could be out of an F1 seat, if Markelov somehow convinces Williams to get him on board.

With the rumour mill stating that Perez is in line to move to Haas next season, the next few weeks are going to present us with some very, very interesting stories.
