Matthijs De Ligt: Ajax defender confirms Ajax exit as Catalan club directors visit Netherlands to further secure the deal for the Dutch player.

Barcelona are following Matthijs De Ligt since a significant period of time and currently seem to finalize the deal to sign the player from Ajax.

Whereas, while speaking to Fox Sports after his side’s victory yesterday over Utrecht, De Ligt hinted his exit from the Dutch club.

“My last (game at) Joahn Cruyff Arena? I don’t know yet. There are negotiations, but there is still no agreement with whom? The newspapers write. Choose one of you.”

The 19-year-old defender amassed a lot of attention from the big clubs after displaying exceptional performances. Including his exploits against Real Madrid and Juventus.

Thus, compelling heavyweight clubs like Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United and Juventus to vie for him. Although, it was earlier reported that De Ligt is interested to join the Blaugrana club as his playing style suited with the club.

Additionally, Barcelona signing his teammate Frankie De Jong might have further interested the Dutch international to join Ernesto Valverde’s side.

Therefore, considering the interests of the player, Mundo Deportivo reports that a delegation from Barcelona is in Netherlands to secure the deal for the Dutch central defender’s services.

Nevertheless, the final negotiations are yet to be known but De Ligt’s inclusion in Barcelona’s squad will surely bolster the defense line of the club as the Dutch defender has been phenomenal, despite not reaching to his true potential yet.
