Matthijs De Ligt Transfer: Juventus fail to reach agreement with Ajax for Dutch prodigy

Juventus have failed to reach an agreement with Ajax for the centre-back Matthijs De Ligt.

Juventus have failed to the fulfil the demand of Ajax for the defender Matthijs De Ligt. The Dutch International is wanted by the Italian giants, but they are still work left to get over the line.

Sky Sports reported that the Old Lady tabled a bid which would see the Dutch side receive 49.3 million upfront, with 9 million in add-ons. Juventus already agreed a 10.7 million-a-year offer with the player’s agent Mino Raiola, but they are yet to match PSG’s bid.

The French side have already obliged to pay 67.3 million, the amount demanded by the Dutch Champions. This will force Juventus to take a decision quickly because of Raiola’s good relationship with the PSG representatives.

Ajax have expressed their displeasure with the bid, but expect another offer in the forthcoming days. Till then, De Ligt has been told to train with his teammates at De Toekomst on Monday. De Ligt has already set his heart on Juventus after a move could materialize this summer.

Following the UEFA Nations League final, Cristiano Ronaldo came up to the young centre-back to convince him to join Juventus. Albeit that, the young defender has reiterated about his undecided future to the media.

Despite talks acceleration with Juventus, PSG have not given up their hopes on signing the defender. Similar to the Italian side, they are willing to break the bank to land him.

Barcelona, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich were the other sides to run for his signature, but they were put off by Raiola’s huge compensation. Additionally, the player himself has asked huge wage which has been deemed too high by the above-mentioned clubs.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Matthijs De Ligt looks likely to head to Juventus following intense talks with the club. However, one cannot rule out PSG, who are also running for the signature of the 19-year-old.
