Max Verstappen will be hoping that the Honda engine is up to speed and helps Red Bull be competitive in the 2019 season.

The major test for the Red Bull-Honda partnership would be in the 2020 season, when Red Bull will need to challenge for the title.

However, a lot of it depends upon how Honda enhances the Red Bull package and then how Verstappen deals with the pressure of being in a championship fight.

Verstappen is obviously looking forward to the challenge, as he has time and again proven that he has the speed and the talent to be involved in a title challenge. He needs a good enough car now and some luck to land his 1st world championship.

“I really like this team and I’m sure we can build the fastest car ever,” Verstappen said.

“We just need the engine to reach the right level.

“Next year we must try to go strong and set the stage for 2020, when the project is fighting for the title.” he added.

But, things could go the other way for Red Bull too. After moving on from Renault, there is next to no guarantee about how the Honda engine would behave, especially after the debacle that they had with McLaren.

Now, while Verstappen wants to be positive about the future, he was questioned about how he would react if things don’t work out for Red Bull with Honda.

Max was very practical with his answer, confirming that he would then move onto ‘Plan B’.

“There is always a Plan B” when asked about the Honda-Red Bull partnership not working.

Where do you think Verstappen would go, if Red Bull and Honda can’t deliver?
