The Mercedes social media team has been doing a fabulous job this season, keeping fans entertained during race weekends and also during those long weeks without F1.
They always rise to the occasion on race weekends though, not only involving the fans, but also rival teams, for a funny round of social media banter.
This weekend has started off on the same note with Mercedes coming up with some wonderful action on Twitter, involving Force India and Renault in the same.
The Mercedes account was accepting questions from fans before Friday practice and a fan wanted to know which twitter account was Mercedes’ favourite.
That time again… 😉 Have you got a #RussianGP question for us?
Drop us a Tweet and we’ll take a crack at answering it! 👇

They came out in support of Force India in their answer, saying that they liked their buddies at Force India the most.

But Mercedes wanted everyone involved to keep this as a secret from Renault, as Renault and Mercedes have often indulged in multiple social media conversations.
Don’t tell Renault. 🤫

Renault then came up with the perfect reply, as they were saddened by Mercedes’ reply.

The pokemon related response then triggered a pokemon related conversation, one which kept all the stakeholders entertained.
Andddd now we’re thinking about Pokémon: The First Movie when we should be thinking about writing the press release. Thanks guys

The Mercedes team though would be content after Free practice in Sochi today, as Hamilton and Bottas ended FP2 as 1-2, with Hamilton having close to 0.5 seconds on his closest rival Sebastian Vettel.
It is an extremely important weekend in the WDC race, as a win for Mercedes would mean Vettel would then have to depend on Hamilton slipping up in order to clinch the title.
But if Vettel can clinch a victory in Sochi, the title race will be wide open.
An interesting weekend awaits, one that is sure to present us with some more social media and on track action.
