MI buy Yuvraj Singh

MI buy Yuvraj Singh: Mumbai Indians buy veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for INR 1 crore in the second round of the auction.

During the ongoing IPL auction for the 12th season of the IPL (Indian Premier League) at Jaipur, IPL franchise Mumbai Indians acquire the services of veteran India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh for INR 1 crore.

Yuvraj, who was priced at INR 1 crore, remained unsold in the first round of the auction. With franchises having the option to recall the unsold players, Yuvraj was recalled and had almost remained unsold for the second time before the Indians bid for him.

Active in the IPL auction since the afternoon, Mumbai have bought a variety of players including their mentor from the last season in Lasith Malinga (INR 2 crores). Having bought Yuvraj now, they have another option to bat in the middle order.

There is no doubt in Yuvraj having it in him to dominate the bowling attack during the upcoming season of the IPL. However, his current form remains a concern for he hasn’t played much cricket of late.

There is no hiding to the fact that Yuvraj might not start in Mumbai Indians’ starting XI for they already have a settled core. That being said, his experience might come in handy for three-time IPL champions during some stage of the tournament.

Earlier, there were reports of IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings bidding for Yuvraj but that didn’t happen twice. After being released by Kings XI Punjab last month, Yuvraj will play for his sixth IPL team in the 12th edition of the tournament.

Mumbai will be hoping for Yuvraj’s more than decade-long experience to add value to their setup this time round.
