During the Qualifier 1 of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Chennai, Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets to confirm their spot in IPL 2019 final.
After Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and chose to bat, the hosts scored a mediocre 131/4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 13th over, Ambati Rayudu top-scored for Chennai scoring 42* (37) with the help of three fours and a six.
With bowling figures of 4-0-14-2, MI leg-spinner Rahul Chahar was their pick of the bowlers. While the score was considered to be a competitive total for Chennai, the opposition chased it with utter responsibility to avoid any blunder on a wicket which was supporting the spinners.
MI vs CSK Man of the Match
Chasing a 132-run target, Indians didn’t get off to the best of starts losing captain Rohit Sharma (4) on the first ball itself. Sharma’s opening partner Quinton de Kock (8) getting out in the fourth over didn’t help their case either.
It was an 80-run partnership for the third wicket between Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan which saw them coming back in the contest. In what was a game-changing stand, it aided MI to seal the chase in the penultimate over despite losing wickets on consecutive balls.
To @mipaltan loyal supporters and family, well done on getting to the final. Suryakumar Yadav 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. To beat @ChennaiIPL three times this season, and twice in Chennai is a sign of an excellent team…. will there be fourth meeting this season???????

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the first over, Yadav ended up scoring 71* (54) with the help of 10 fours to see his team cross the victory line. Facing a stern test against the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja, Yadav stood tall to defy the challenge posted by spinners. The 28-year old batsman was declared the ‘Man of the Match’.
