MI vs KXIP Man of the Match

MI vs KXIP Man of the Match: Mumbai Indians star batsman was declared the Man of the Match for his incredible batting performance.

During the 24th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab at Mumbai, Mumbai Indians defeated Kings XI Punjab by 3 wickets to register their fourth IPL 2019 victory.

After Indians captain Kieron Pollard won the toss and put the visitors in to bat, KXIP scored 197/4 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Opening batsman Lokesh Rahul top-scored for his team registering his maiden IPL hundred. Carrying his bat through, Rahul ended up scoring 100* (64) with the help of six fours and six sixes.

Chasing a 198-run target, MI was provided a brisk start by their top-order batsman. While the batsmen might not have scored big, accumulating 50 runs in the powerplay had laid the foundation for them to score 198 runs on the last ball of the over.

It was eventually the tail-enders in Alzarri Joseph (15*) and Rahul Chahar (1*) who sealed the chase for MI by scoring four runs in four balls.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the eighth over, Pollard stood tall on the expectations as he played a central role in winnings the match for MI. With 133 runs remaining in the last 10 over, the hosts seemed unlikely to win the match.

However, it was Pollard’s single-handed effort which put on display a near-unbelievable and extra-ordinary innings from the 31-year old cricketer. Before getting out in the last over, Pollard ended up scoring 83 (31) with the help of three fours and 10 sixes and was awarded the Man of the Match for the same.
