Mike Tyson once claimed he had never heard of Manchester City

Mike Tyson once claimed he had never heard of Manchester City. Hilariously, he said this while he was sat next to Ricky Hatton.

Manchester City are the reigning Premier League Champions and are also the FA Cup and Carabao Cup holders. They are though to be the most complete team in the world right now. However, there was a time when Legendary boxer Mike Tyson once claimed that he had never heard about Manchester City.

A video clip from an interview in 2013 by Claire Balding featuring Mike Tyson, and Ricky Hatton has now surfaced that shows Tyson make the comments.  During the chat, Tyson revealed that despite spending a fair bit of time in Manchester, even fighting Julius Francis in the city back in 2000, he didn’t know there were two teams.

Watch the video here:

Ricky Harton, a staunch City Supporter, who came out to the club’s ‘Blue Moon’ anthem during his career, took the comments rather well. He also acknowledged the fact that the club weren’t that good in the past and had only then come good.

Mike Tyson certainly knows who Manchester City are now as he was pictured with a City Jersey in 2015.

Manchester United travel to the Etihad today to resume their rivalry. United and City have had a reversal in fortunes since 2013, however, none of that matters when both sides take to the field. Besides the derby, the match is also very significant for both sides as they chase their season goals.

Having already conceded a huge lead to Liverpool, Manchester City cannot afford to drop any more points. Manchester United on the other hand, are looking for a spot in the top 4 and with Tottenham and severel other clubs hot on their heels, Ole Gunnar Soslkjaer would like to bridge the gap between his side and the top 4 while distancing himself further away from the rest.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
