The striker is currently facing a four month betting ban

Ever since Daniel Sturridge has departed Liverpool, the England striker’s career has been on a wayward spiral. With his form on a downtick for manifold years now, Sturridge currently finds himself bereft of a club.

Having last featured for Turkish side Trabzonspor, Sturridge managed to make a further meal out of his career. The striker was found guilty of violating the betting guidelines in place, a breach which saw FIFA hand him a four month ban.

Sturridge On Beckham’s Radar

However, the striker could finally return on the pitch as he looks to revive a floundering career. A slew of reports have reported clubs once again igniting interest in the Englishman as his betting ban inches to its completion.

And the most serious interest for the striker is coming in from USA with two MLS clubs said to be monitoring the player’s situation. Both DC United and Inter Miami are said to be eyeing signing Sturridge ahead of their latest season with Inter Miami currently leading the race.

Sturridge’s signing is said to be part of co-owner David Beckham’s plans of getting notable and known names into his club. The Inter Miami supremo has for long spoken about his aspirations to indulge in the services of worldclass footballers with Ryan Shawcross, Kieran Gibbs and Gonzalo Higuaín all being brought on board.

Beckham had earlier even talked about his desire of getting Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo into the side’s ranks.

“I have said from day one that our academy system is a massive part of this club and if we can bring players through here that have lived and breathed Inter Miami then that is the goal,” Beckham told AFP.

“But we also know that being in Miami, our fans want to see the big stars.

“We already have players like Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi who add to the glitz and glamour but also going forward we want to have the opportunity to bring some great names in.”

Asked about Messi and Ronaldo, Beckham refused to rule out a move for either player.

“The player has to be right for the team, still have ambition and want to win,” Beckham said.

“So whatever player we talk to, we have to make sure that is a priority.

“Of course, we always want to bring in great players. Miami is a great pull for anyone and those kinds of players (Messi and Ronaldo) are the kind we aspire to bring here.”
