Egypt were awarded the CAF’s award for the best federation of 2019 on Tuesday night. They were awarded so for being a great host during the African Cup of Nations in the summer of 2019. However, Mohamed Salah seemed to disagree with the decision.
Mohamed Salah uploaded a picture on his Instagram story that seemed to suggest that he was mocking his country’s FA. He uploaded a picture of his little daughter laughing along with the words, “and the award for best federation goes to...”
Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian FA have not seen eye to eye on various issues. The two fell out during the 2018 World Cup in Russia when he was pictured Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov in the Egypt camp.
Salah later claimed that he was forced to do so by the FA. The forward was not pleased at being associated with someone with a history of continued human rights violation. He has clashed with the FA on several other issues such as sponsorships and he continues to oppose several heads of football in his country.
