Mourinho charged by FA

Mourinho charged by FA: The Manchester United manager is charged by the FA and has time until October 19 to present his defence.

Manchester United didn’t make the best of starts in the Premier League this season. The club is currently 8th in the league with 13 points. Moreover, Jose Mourinho’s side conceded losses to Brighton and West Ham in the league, and lower-league side Derby County in their first match of Carabao Cup.

The season was further marred with controversy, as midfielder Paul Pogba has overtly criticized the manager’s tactics in post-match interviews. After the defeat to Derby County, Mourinho and Pogba were caught arguing during a training session.

Goals have dried up for the club, as United has a goal difference of -1 in the league. Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford have missed significant chances in front of the goal this season.

Jose Mourinho is also facing issues with his defence. Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof have been underwhelming this season so far, and the manager has even tried Scott McTominay, and for the second half against Newcastle, Paul Pogba in central defence.

As United gears up for the big match against Chelsea, the club received another setback.

Mourinho charged by FA:

The Manchester United manager is charged by the Football Association for his comments after the 3-2 win against Newcastle United. It has been alleged that Jose Mourinho used foul language in the immediate aftermath of a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford.

The FA statement read, “It is alleged that his language at the end of the fixture, as captured by the broadcast footage, was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper.

“He has until 6pm on October 19 to respond to the charge.”

If he is found guilty of the charges, he could face a touchline ban, which would mean that Mourinho will have to watch the game against Chelsea from the stands at Stamford Bridge.

The match against Newcastle was intense as Manchester United came back from 2-0 down at halftime to secure three points. Alexis Sanchez scored the winner in the 90th minute of the game. As the match ended, an animated Mourinho was seen saying something – while looking at the camera, as he headed to the tunnel.

What next?

Manchester United will aim to bring their campaign back on track as they face Chelsea in the Premier League this weekend. Mourinho’s side awaits a tough set of fixtures, which include Chelsea, two games against Juventus, and the Manchester derby – all in the space of three weeks.
