In a few days time, team India will return back home to rest and recuperate as look to recharge their batteries before the next season.

BCCI have already mentioned that they will be looking to rest key players for the tri-nation T20I series against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, as they want their star players to be fresh for the more important tours later this year.

India will travel to both England and Australia by the end of the year, which are expected to be massive tests for this Indian side.

Virat Kohli’s men created history by becoming the first Indian side to win an ODI series in South Africa, and will look to do more of the same in both England and Australia.

The Nidahas Trophy is being hosted by Sri Lanka to commemorate their 70 years of Independence, as they look to win the tournament in front of their own fans.

INDIAN TEAM :

Rohit Sharma (Capt), Shikhar Dhawan (vc), KL Rahul, Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Deepak Hooda, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Vijay Shankar, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammad Siraj, Rishabh Pant (wk).

This is what Chairman of the Selection committee MSK Prasad had to say,

“We’ve kept in mind the workload and upcoming schedule while finalizing the team for Nidahas Trophy. The high-performance team has suggested that adequate rest should be given to our fast bowlers to help improve athletic performance, maximize rest and prevent injury.

“MS Dhoni was not available for selection as he had requested for rest.”

“Mayank has not been selected because we are following a pattern. Any domestic performer will have to play India A before being considered for senior team selection,” a senior BCCI official close to selection committee told PTI.
