MS Dhoni comments on entering the ground

MS Dhoni comments on entering the ground: Chennai Super Kings captain opened up on why he entered the ground after being dismissed.

During the 25th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at Jaipur, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni played an exceptional knock to win yet another tense chase for his team.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the sixth over, Dhoni ended up scoring 58 (43) with the help of two fours and three sixes in the cliffhanger.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Dhoni claimed the match to be a “very good game”. “It was a very good game. Need to give credit to Rajasthan. They were slightly few runs short on what would’ve been a good score. But they put pressure on our batsmen and they were able to build pressure right to the end,” Dhoni was quoted as saying.

After Dhoni won the toss and chose to field, Royals ended up scoring 151/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. It seemed as if the visitors would restrict the hosts to a lower total. But CSK’s death bowling once again faltered for them.

While Dhoni admitted that team will enjoy the win, he also laid emphasis on learning from the mistakes. “Once you win games like this, you learn a lot out of it. It’s important to enjoy the win but also learn from the mistakes.

“It’s about a few hits. Have to see the ground here. It’s a very big ground and the outfield is fast. Doesn’t matter if it was Shardul’s [Thakur] over or someone else’s over. Important to see if the batsmen batted well or whether the execution failed. We’ve got very good support here, thanks to them. Not to forget, one of my biggest innings came here. All games are big games,” Dhoni added.

Despite Dhoni’s prowess with the bat, this match will be remembered for him re-entering the ground after getting out. After the on-field umpires committed an error, a furious Dhoni was seen walking from the dugout to have an argument regarding the same.

Ugly might just be a small word in describing all that happened in the last over at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Talking about the same, Dhoni said, “At the end of the day, individuals do commit mistakes. But the team has to take the blame if you’ve lost.”
