It has been a long time since MS Dhoni acted as a pure fielder on a cricket pitch, but it looks like that will may happen in CSK’s next match.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni scored his highest Indian Premier League (IPL) score against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at Mohali. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 79 but failed to win the game for his team.

He also had back problems during the game and had to take a painkiller. Despite the injury, he almost won the game for his team and gave the fans a treat.

CSK already have their hands full with injuries with their key players like Suresh Raina, Kedar Jadhav and Faf Du Plessis already suffering from injuries.

However, Suresh Raina and Faf Du Plessis are expected to make their comeback in their next games while Jadhav has been ruled out of the tournament. But the worst part for the team and the fans are to see their skipper injured.

According to the reports of Sportskeeda, MS Dhoni will play the next game but will not be keeping wickets. Reports suggest that Dhoni is not fully fit to do wicket-keeping and the franchise might appoint Ambati Rayudu to do the role for the next game. Ambati Rayadu used to keep wickets for his former IPL team Mumbai Indians (MI).

The official twitter handle of CSK has posted a picture of Dhoni and Raina training in the nets and playing shots. This indicates that Dhoni will be participating in the next encounter against RR on Friday.

The choice would be difficult for the franchise to find a replaceable wicket-keeper for the legendary skipper. If the side decides to play Dhoni only as a batsman, Rayadu might be taking up the gloves.

Chennai Super Kings have started well in the tournament with 2 victories in 3 encounters. The side looks well settled and Suresh Raina’s comeback will add to batting department.
