MS Dhoni steps in the DD-CSK match with eyes set on several IPL records

When MS Dhoni will step on the field in the match between CSK and DD to be played on the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, there will be several IPL records that would be on the line.

When you have longevity in sports, there comes a point after some time that every match that you play has some record or other at stake. Many would remember that at the fag end of Sachin Tendulkar’s career, he was toppling records for fun. Every run he scored or every match he played, accounted for some record or the other.

However, one must understand that veteran cricketers reap the rewards of years of hard work, determination and persistence towards the later part of their career. MS Dhoni is also in a similar phase in his career such that every time he steps on the cricket field, some records are on the line.

Sixes in IPL 2018

In the fixture between DD and CSK to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, MS Dhoni needs to hit just two more sixes to pip AB de Villiers on the list of most IPL sixes. If Dhoni hits these sixes, he will leap to the second spot on the list of batsmen to have hit most IPL sixes this year.

Dhoni has currently hit 29 sixes while ABD has hit 30. KL Rahul leads the chart with 32 sixes.

Stumpings in IPL

We are so fascinated by Dhoni’s batting that we tend to forget how safe a wicket keeper he has become over the years. Dhoni has numerous stumpings, run-outs and catches under his belt in the IPL as well.

The CSK skipper needs to effect three more stumpings to surpass Robin Uthappa on the list of wicketkeepers to have executed most IPL stumpings.

4000 IPL runs

Dhoni has been part of all the ten seasons of the IPL and is also leading CSK in the 11^th edition of the league. The talismanic cricketer is just 26 runs away from breaching the magic figure of 4000 IPL runs. Other Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is also on the brink of 5000 IPL runs as the RCB captain has 4944 runs against his name.
