Twitter reactions on CSK captain powering CSK to 160: Twitter was exhilarated to see Chennai Super Kings captain striking big blows.

During the 18th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni stood tall on expectations to propel his team to 160-3 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

While the score isn’t as big as T20 scores are these days, it is quite competitive on a sluggish Chepauk wicket. Considering Chennai were 116-3 in 17 overs, it is a valiant effort from Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu to score 44 runs in the last three overs.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 14th over, Dhoni showed first signs of aggression after he hit Punjab all-rounder Sam Curran for a six over deep mid-wicket on the second ball of the 19th over. In the same over, Dhoni hit a couple of fours to score 19 runs in the penultimate over.

Having also scored a four in Andre Tye’s previous (18th) and Mohammed Shami’s last over (20th) in association with Rayudu also contributing, CSK have given their bowlers a lot of runs to play with.

While Dhoni ended up scoring 37* (23) with the help of four fours and a six, Rayudu scored 21* (15) with the help of one four and one six. Opening batsman Faf du Plessis top-scored for CSK after registering his 10th IPL half-century. He scored 54 (38) with the help of two fours and four sixes.

With bowling figures of 4-0-23-3, Kings XI captain Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.
