MS Dhoni’s wife applies for arms license due to apparent threat to life
MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni is in the news today for a surprising reason as she has applied for an arms license following an admission about ‘threat to her life’.
Sakshi has applied for a pistol or 0.32 revolver.
Her application is centred around the fact that with MS Dhoni touring most of the time, she is alone at home without any protection and thus needs some weapon in order to take care of herself.
The Dhoni family has already been in the news for arms license requirements, as in 2008, MS Dhoni himself had applied for a prohibited bore license in order to purchase a 9mm pistol.
The license was then provided to him in 2010 so as to purchase weapons of prohibited bore and only then could he buy a 9mm pistol.
It took almost a two year period before the license was granted to MS Dhoni, as the central home ministry wanted clarifications regarding Dhoni’s appeal.
The current procedure states that the applicant needs to apply for the weapon and the license is then issued by the by the central home ministry at the recommendation of the state government.
With the long UK tour coming up, where in MS Dhoni will be present for the T20I series against Ireland and the T20I and ODI series against England.
In the meantime Sakshi wants to ensure that there is enough safety around her premises, she would want the license formalities to go through much quicker than how it had panned out 10 years ago when MS had himself applied for it.
