Throughout his long and illustrious career, Matt Kenseth built a reputation of being one of the most competitive drivers to have graced the garage. The 2003 Cup Series champion has had a lot of success, not just in the Cup Series but almost everything he has raced in. Despite all of his achievements, Kenseth believes it was not meant for him.

This year NASCAR is celebrating its 75th anniversary as a sport. Unsurprisingly, Kenseth was nominated on the list of 75 greatest drivers of all time. But, while speaking about the massive honor, the former Roush Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing driver made a rather surprising admission regarding his thoughts on the matter.
Matt Kenseth shares his thoughts about the NASCAR honor
Speaking ahead of the Slinger Nationals, Kenseth believes that his success in NASCAR was not always due to his skill behind the wheel. He reiterated how there were several people equally or more talented than him who did not even make the list. Therefore, he argued that the recognition was something that he did not deserve over the others.
Kenseth mentioned, “It’s an exclusive list. It doesn’t, again I’ll tell you the same thing I told you around the Hall of Fame stuff. I don’t really feel like I belong on that list. When you look at it, there’s a lot of people excluded on that list that. I think are better drivers than I ever was. But I definitely cashed in on the good fortune of having people like Robbie Reiser.”
Kenseth to return to the iconic Slinger Nationals in the quest for his 9th win
This year the prestigious Slinger Nationals at the Slinger Speedway are about to see quite a few NASCAR drivers compete for the win. The most notable of them all is the participation of the previous 8-time winner, Kenseth. After having so much success at the quarter mile super late model race, he is back for more.
The addition of his name to the list of NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers of all time further sweetens the event for him. Although he will have fierce competition from Hendrick Motorsports drivers William Byron and Chase Elliott, Kenseth remains the firm favorite for the event.
