One could argue that the 2023 season feels like a redemption year for Kyle Busch. After a rather acrimonious exit from his former team Joe Gibbs Racing, Busch moved into Richard Childress Racing at a point where even the most ardent NASCAR fans were questioning if he could make a run for the title. Ever since, he has been on a roll winning races back and forth with a strong form. Would that mean that Busch is ready to contest for his third championship title this year?

Answering that very question, Busch recently spoke about his perspective on his and Randall Burnett’s (crew chief) team’s progress toward the playoffs.
Kyle Busch reveals two problematic tracks for his third championship bid
During the press conference, he was reminded of his light-hearted comment following the Sonoma Raceway event, where he expressed reluctance for an off-weekend considering his stretch of four top-10 finishes. The question posed to him was about the team’s current position and how closely they could be considered contenders for the championship.
Busch stated, “Yeah, I mean looking at the last 10 weeks of the schedule, I would say that we feel pretty confident about how we can go about those weeks and those races. The only one that you kind of circle right now that’s a question mark, maybe two is obviously Bristol and Martinsville with the short-track package and us not being great with that.”
“But the rest of the races, I’m looking forward to them. There’s an even slate there for us to be as good as we’ve been this year. And go out there and score some good, strong runs.”
“It comes down to the details. So to me, from what I can tell, it’s where we need to be. Praises to them and I’m looking forward to racing out the rest of the year with the way that we’ve had our start.”
How has Kyle Busch been so far this season?
With 16 races under his belt this season, Busch is showcasing top-notch performance. The RCR driver currently holds the 6th spot in the driver’s ranking, with a total of 496 points, three wins, nine top-10s, and five top-fives. The Las Vegas native has been exhibiting a formidable drive on the racetrack this season.
His current position, with three wins, guarantees his place in the post-season. However, the crux lies in whether he can leverage his current momentum to progress through the elimination rounds in the playoffs. If he can pull this off, we might witness Busch clinching his third championship, adding another feather to his already illustrious career cap.
