When Kyle Larson heads into any race, on any track, he has only one thing in mind – the win. And after the highs of Saturday, the stage was set for a great race on Sunday. However, after a decent grid position during the Verizon 200, Larson failed to capitalize and fell down the order, only to somehow salvage a top-10 result.

While speaking to the media after the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the #5 shared his thoughts on the problems he faced during the race. Now despite his 8th-place finish, not everything was gloomy for the HMS driver. Rather one could say it was a weekend to remember, with the unveiling of his cars for the double-header next year, along with his win at the Knoxville Nationals a day before.
Kyle Larson talks about his problems during the Verizon 200 race
A visibly frustrated figure after the race, Larson said, “I just made that mistake into turn 12. Flat-spotted my left front, which I felt like it could have affected my right-hander but thankfully, it didn’t. There were more right-handers than lefts, but all the left-handers I had no grip.”
“So I was really tight. Just kind of had to get through that run. I gave up a few positions right before green flag stops. We cycled ahead of the 20 and the 91. It was a tough race. I wish I wouldn’t have made that mistake, maybe I would’ve ended up third or fourth.”
He added, “Glad we were able to salvage a top-10 out of it. Bummed that I made a mistake like that, and we didn’t have any cautions to make up for it. It is what it is, just got to clean it up a bit.”
Kyle Larson reveals double-header paint scheme for 2024
While Larson did not have the best of times in the Cup Series, the HMS driver managed to win the Knoxville Nationals for the second time, thereby etching his name on the elite list of drivers who have more than one win to their name.

Meanwhile, Hendrick Motorsports also unveiled two cars with a similar paint scheme for his upcoming double header next year. Back in January, it was announced that Larson would be making his debut in the Indy 500 event in the 2024 season with Arrow McLaren.
Larson would be participating in a doubleheader, racing at the Indy 500 race at IMS and the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on the same day.
The collaboration between Hendrick Motorsports and Arrow McLaren has brought a dash of both worlds. The car flaunts blue from HMS and Papaya orange from McLaren. While we still have a year till the event transpires, the paint scheme is nothing less than admirable at present.
