“-135”: LeBron James and the Lakers Get Grossly Underrated Ahead of Big 1st Round Matchup Against Ja Morant’s Grizzlies
LeBron James and the Lakers are in the playoffs! Yes, in the past, any James team making the playoffs would’ve been a foregone conclusion, but times have changed. And especially given that the Lakers started the season with just 2 wins in their first 12 games, this is a massive achievement on its own.
That said, this isn’t some young rebuilding team whose goal was simply making the postseason. No, this is the team that is already on a bit of a clock. So, in other words, their goal is to win a championship this season. And even if they can’t do that, their next goal becomes to have a dominant enough postseason to set a good foundation for next season. And that brings us to their first-round matchup against the Grizzlies.
In the past, any team led by the King was arguably the favorite in every series it appeared in. However, as we said before, things have changed since then. However, just how much they’ve changed is beyond staggering, and well worthy of your attention. So, let’s dive right into it, shall we?
LeBron James and the Lakers’ odds to beat the Grizzlies in the first round are calculated to be woefully low
Remember when the Golden State Warriors reached the NBA finals to play the Celtics, and their odds were released by ESPN? Remember just how disrespectful it was?

Well, the thing is, apparently, the betting world in general has yet to learn its lesson. Because their recent prediction on LeBron James and the Lakers beating the Grizzlies has got to be a bit ludicrous. Take a look at the tweet below to find out what we mean.

“-135”
Bear in mind, this is a Lakers side that has been greatly rejuvenated since the many trades they made during this past regular season and has since looked like one of the better teams in the conference.
On top of that, Anthony Davis has started to look like himself again, sometimes even putting his performances from 2019-20 to shame.
Yes, the Lakers are still the underdogs here. However, they do deserve more props than what they are being given by Caesar’s.
