LeBron James' High School Team Was Once Humbled By Carmelo Anthony

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony were two of the hottest high-school prospects, both expected to come up against each other in the NBA as well. The clash between Bron’s St. Vincent St. Mary’s High School and Melo’s Oak Hill Academy was claimed to be a blockbuster affair. While LeBron had the larger stock, it was Carmelo’s team that came up trumps in the contest.

LeBron top scored in the match with 36 points and had 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals in the game. Carmelo on the other hand, had the more impressive game. He finished with 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists, and went an impressive 14-25 from the field. LeBron on the other hand, could only convert 12 of the 27 attempts he made in the game.

Oak Hill was the top-ranked team in the tournament and their win meant that their season went 25-1 until that point. While the two shared an intense rivalry on the court, it was clear that there was also mutual respect. The game provided a historical picture that would go on to be revisited by NBA fans for years to come.

LeBron James eventually got his revenge on Carmelo Anthony

There is little doubt that Carmelo Anthony did not find the same success in the NBA as James did. Melo recently announced his retirement while 4-time NBA Champion James is still going strong. The two came up against each other a total of 46 times, with LeBron winning 30 of those games.

As far as Oak Hill was concerned, Mel0 started college at Syracuse. This led Bron to get his revenge on Oak Hill in another game, 10 months later.
