Magic Johnson has built a business empire after retiring from the NBA, amassing a staggering net worth of $620 million. Therefore, it’s not surprising at all that a borderline billionaire himself, Magic is a fan of the hit show Billions on television. However, the five-time NBA Champion was surprised to find out that his former Los Angeles Lakers teammate Kareem Abdul-Jabbar recently made a guest appearance on the show. Soon after, Magic took to Twitter, expressing his astonishment and commending Abdul-Jabbar for his stellar performance.

Kareem and Magic were teammates on the Showtime Lakers for close to a decade, and they grew close both on and off the court. The love and respect Johnson has for his “Captain” is beyond measure.
Magic Johnson was shocked to see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on his favorite TV show “Billions”
Recently, Magic Johnson took to Twitter to congratulate Abdul-Jabbar for his excellent performance on the show. Kareem played himself in the season seven episode titled “Winston Dick Energy”. And as expected of the man affectionately referred to as “Captain”, the Lakers legend took on the persona of a “wise man”. Chuck Rhoades, one of the show’s lead characters, is suffering a confidence crisis in the episode and has some concerns about his profession. But in comes Abdul-Jabbar, who gives him some much-needed advice, putting his concerns to rest.

It was the perfect role for Kareem, who is known for his sage wisdom. However, this isn’t the first time he has made an appearance on TV. Kareem has had cameos in The Big Bang Theory, Fresh Off the Boat, Guys with Kids, and even the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He’s even been spotted on the Big Screen, making an appearance on Game of Death, and starring in the movie Airplane! Meanwhile, Johnson tweeted to commemorate the Captain’s role in the show:
While I was watching one of my favorite shows Billion, my Showtime teammate made a guest appearance. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was excellent in his role. To my Captain, job well done! @kaj33

It’s always great to see an NBA superstar make an appearance on TV. Hopefully, we may even see him and Magic team up like they did back in their playing days for a guest appearance sometime. It certainly would get NBA fans around the world excited.
Magic and Kareem are currently being represented on the silver screen in the show Winning Time
It may be a while before we see them make a guest appearance together on TV, but Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are being represented on the silver screen. HBO’s Winning Time covers the dominant run Magic and Kareem had with the Lakers in the 1980s. Currently airing its second season, Magic is played by actor Quincy Isaiah, and Kareem by Solomon Hughes.
It’s an interesting show, albeit a tad bit dramatic. Nevertheless, it’s a great way for new NBA fans to learn about the dominance of the “Showtime” Lakers.
The fact that HBO would make an entire show about Magic and Kareem just goes on to show how incredible they were back in the 80s. Together, they secured five NBA Championships for the Lakers. Now, their legendary run is available for all to see. And, despite the criticism surrounding the show, it is an entertaining watch.
