“Chris Paul is Not a Top 5 PG”: DeMarcus Cousins Shockingly Puts Russell Westbrook Ahead of 6-Foot Guard
Mostly known for his high basketball IQ and leadership skills, Chris Paul checks most of the boxes when it comes to fulfilling the criteria of a point guard. In his 18-seasons in the league, the veteran guard has played for five franchises, with each of them experiencing an upward trend in their respective graphs post his arrival, given his ability to galvanize the troops.
Despite all the praise and accolades, Paul failed to win when it mattered the most. The absence of a championship continues to be a sword hanging in the balance for the 37-year-old superstar. Irrespective, CP3 remained a top choice for many organizations, given his unique set of skills.
Yet to win a championship in his career, many had Paul as the top 5 point guard of all-time, something free agent and four-time All-Star DeMarcus Cousins failed to understand. The Kings veteran specified how he meant no knock on CP3’s career and personal accolades.
Being his candid best, Boogie Cousins mentioned how the likes of Russell Westbrook deserved to be above Paul in the list of top 5 point guards, not forgetting to have Steve Nash, John Stockton, and Rajon Rondo in the conversation too.
DeMarcus Cousins reveals why Chris Paul isn’t on his top 5 PG list.
During a recent appearance on Buckets, Cousins got into an intense discussion on the subject of the top 5 point guards of all time, revealing why he felt Chris Paul didn’t belong on the list.
“It’s Chris Paul,” said Boogie Cousins. “Every time I hear a top 5 PG list, Chris Paul is in it, and I’m not really understanding why? No knock to CP, strictly from an accolades and a performance standpoint, I don’t think Chris Paul is top five.”

Keeping Magic Johnson, Stephen Curry, and Isiah Thomas in the top 3, Cousins mentioned how we needed to bring up Nash, Stockton, and lastly Westbrook. When asked if he was willing to put Mr. Triple-Double above CP3, Boogie replied, “I mean, he’s an MVP.”
Cousins concluded by saying how Rondo deserved to be in the conversation too.
It’s been a tough season for Chris Paul so far.
Though the Suns are a 4th seed in the western conference, there continues to be a sense of unpredictability attached to Monty Williams and his crew, the most recent example of this being their four consecutive losses.

Meanwhile, CP3 has been struggling with injuries, having missed 14 consecutive games due to a sore right heel, coupled with a steady decline in stats.
