"Chris Webber parts ways with TNT": 5-time All-Star will no longer be in the announcers' booth for this 2020-21 NBA season

Chris Webber has confirmed that he is no longer associated with Turner network. The former Kings and Sixers big man worked with TNT for 13 years.

Chris Webber was a fixture on TNT’s top commentating crew alongside the legendary Marv Albert. While Albert is now taking a step back owing to age, Webber seems  to have considered this move for a while.

Webber was an integral part of TNT’s coverage across basketball. The former Michigan Wolverines star has made a number of memorable calls as the color commentator.

Why did Chris Webber walk out on TNT?

This is a relationship that has had its share of falling-outs. Webber’s contract with the network was set to run out this year in any way. The way its demise has been preponed begs the question why.

And a part of the answer may have something to do with unprofessional conduct by Chris Webber. The former Kings star initially gave his commitment to be on TNT’s crew for March Madness.

Webber backed out on a late call, causing a few frantic changes for TNT as they nominated Charles Barkley to take up his vacant role. The Final Four ended up being a scintillating tournament and Webber probably feels worse for having missed out on it.

NBA Fans react to C-Webb’s sacking ahead of the playoffs

It’s pretty safe to say that most of TNT’s commentating crew hasn’t been in NBA Twitter’s good books. Webber, Marv Albert and Reggie Miller are 3 of the most-maligned announcers across sports – though there are good reasons for it.

It sounds like a few people are definitely in agreement with this outcome. Nevertheless, we wish Webber the best in his future pursuits. It has to be mentioned that CWebb was one of TNT’s best guest analysts – probably better than Shaq for some people.
